Ashley & Kiko
A local donkey rescue saved pregnant Ashley from slaughter in June 2012. In October 2012, her daughter Kiko was born. Ashley is so kind and loves everyone. Donkeys are very intelligent and Kiko is known to be a silly troublemaker who keeps us on our toes.

Gaia
In October 2023 we welcomed a Canadian Black Cheval mare named Gaia, born in 1997. She worked in therapeutic riding for ten years and is enjoying her retirement years here. Gaia is sure to another favorite with all.
JoJo
In October 2020, we took in a senior Draft-cross mare after a harsh life of work and neglect. She was rescued at an auction before being sent to slaughter. JoJo is a favorite among children, loves to be groomed, is so sweet, and has found her forever home with us.
GiGi
October 2020 brought Gallop Girl – GiGi – a 14-year-old Thoroughbred who raced, sustaining a serious injury to her knee. She was rescued at an auction before being sent to slaughter. GiGi is descended from the Great Secretariat who was her great-great-great-grandfather! GiGi is so sweet and kind and we know she’s going to be a favorite to many who meet her. Her best friend is JoJo.
Paw
Paw came to us in August 2019, a retired therapeutic riding horse. Paw is affectionately known as the barn clown horse, can tell time, and always puts a smile on our face. He’s been known to check his stall gate and if he finds it unlatched, you can be sure he’ll leave in search of grass!
Smoke
HK Top Smoke, is a registered foundation or old style American Quarter Horse. His job in Iowa was as a working cattle horse, and he trained young horses to do that work. He came to a family in CT in 2017. He was then given to a friend to be their own personal horse and was neglected. The family brought him back to their home for safe keeping but hoped to find a place where Smoke could teach people to trust horses and where he could retire and be treated with respect and kindness. Smoke arrived here in August 2021.
Vinny
In March 2020, we welcomed a 15-year-old Standardbred named Vincenne. After many years of harness racing, he was sold to be a buggy horse. When he could no longer do that, he was sent to an auction. That traumatizes horses and changes who they are. He is now relearning trust for humans. He knows he is now safe and will approach the gate to visit people.
